Yamaha Deus Ex Machina Motorcycle Concept

Jake Loniak, a student of Art Center Pasadena has crammed the combination of motorcycle and tech-skeleton into an awesome looking Yamaha branded Deus Ex Machina. Jake has beyond his wild imagination to design this concept. The vehicle will be powered by ultra-capacitors and doped nano-phoshpate batteries. Jake believes that this vehicle can achieve a top speed of 75 mph. The recharge time of this vehicle is15 minutes and cycle time is of 1 hour. The qualities are more than the qualities found in hybrid cars. Anyone who uses this vehicle would be protected from any kind of accident. Can’t wait this vehicle to come on roads…!!

AQUADUCT BY IDEO

The Aquaduct is a pedal powered concept vehicle that transports, filters, and stores water for the developing world. The functional model was designed and constructed over a three week period for the Innovate or Die contest hosted by Google and Specialized.The vehicle seeks to address the two main challenges with water in the developing world: sanitation and transportation. Water-related diseases kill thousands of people each day. Moreover, water sources can be miles away from the home, and women must walk these distances carrying heavy water vessels. The Aquaduct is designed to allow a person to sanitize and transport water simultaneously.As the rider pedals, a pump attached to the pedal crank draws water from a large tank, through a carbon filter, to a smaller clean tank. A clutch engages and disengages the drive belt from the pedal crank, enabling the rider to filter the water while traveling or while stationary. The clean tank is removable and closed for contamination-free home storage and use.The entry placed first in the contest and the $5000 prize money will be donated to Kickstart, a company focused on water solutions for the developing world. Two of the sponsors of the contest, Specialized and Goodby Silverstein & Partners, matched the donation to total a $15,000 impact.

NAS'S NIGGER STILL HITTING THE STREETS -- IN MIXTAPE FORM.

New York rapper Nas is still determined for his controversial entitled album to hit the streets--one way or another. According to Dj Green Lantern, the Queens bred MC will be releasing a mixtape bearing the scrapped album title.
"The Nigger Tape" is said to feature exclusive tracks, remixes and outtakes, including an unreleased verse from Nas’s recently released “Be A Nigger Too,” Black President,” a cut initially slated to appear on Green’s Barak Obama mixtape and “Legendary,” the theme song to a forthcoming Mike Tyson documentary.

A new version of “The Last Real Nigga Alive,” which originally appeared on God’s Son, is also expected to make the final cut.

“I guess it shows you the power of Wal-Mart and Target,” Green tells Rhapsody.com regarding Nas’ title switch. “If that was the case, it’s definitely scary because it kind of fucks with your artistic vision. But Nas and DJ Green Lantern are coming out with a mixtape called The Nigger Tape. Can’t nobody hold that back.”

Milan 08: shown at That’s Design! in Zona Tortona last month, What Can You Bring to the Table is a collection of five chairs where each component was designed in isolation without any knowledge of what the other parts would be like.Each of the five chairs is created in response to a word: vain (above), voluptuous (below), awkward, vicious and androgynous.The project was inspired by a children’s game where each person draws part of a character before folding the paper down and passing it onto the next person, who adds the next feature without knowing what has gone before or after.31 students from the industrial design
course at Lund University in Sweden took part in the project.

XOXO LAPTOP BY YVES BEHAR

Designer Yves Béhar has unveiled the successor to the XO laptop for the One Laptop Per Child project - a folding tablet design called XOXO. The XOXO is a book, a tablet, a board…and yes, a laptop too if that is what you need. The design is still green and white, but thin, simple, and un-interrupted by keyboards, buttons, speaker holes, input devices and visible connectors. And it is soft to the touch, like a piece of luggage, everyday luggage you can take anywhere.

Planned for early 2010, the XOXO should be the next learning object of desire, from Bogota, to Istanbul, to New York.

NEW RAF SIMONS SHOW BOOTS

This directional boot has a white patent leather square toe with a cork laminated heel and black suede lining. The multicoloured rectangular layered sole is 1.5" deep with a hidden 1/2" padded inner. The multicoloured velcro strap fastenings are fully adjustable. When worn, the top of the boot sits comfortably above the ankle.

French-Brazilian architects Triptyque have sent through images of Bela Cintra 1235, a private apartment in São Paulo.Completed in 2006, the apartment features a monumental curving bookcase that wraps around the building’s circulation.The apartment was designed for Houssein Jarouche, owner of the design boutique Micasa in São Paulo. Triptyque also designed the Micasa showroom.

NOVA 3D LED LIGHTING.

The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology merged the concepts of lighting and art with this 3D LED Piece, named NOVA. Created for the institute's 15oth anniversary, the display is made up of 25000 lightballs.
It can display 16 million colors per second. The Display weighs 3.3 tonnes, and is currently displayed at the Zurich train stations main hall until September 2009.
