HAS THE L.A. HIP-HOP PLAGUE FINALLY PASSED?

Ignore the conventional narrative. The simplistic and linear hip-hop hagiographies compressed into 30-minute VH1 specials or records from the Game. You know: N.W.A and Straight Outta Compton “kicked open the doors” for the “West Coast Gangsta Sound,” blah blah blah,

KANYE WEST MOVES UP ALBUM RELEASE DATE "CAUSE HE... FELT LIKE IT"

by  SOHH.COM
After originally being scheduled for a December 16th release date, hip-hop superstar Kanye West is now planning to drop his highly anticipated fourth studio album, 808s & Heartbreak a month early.

“I changed my album to November something cause I finished the album and I felt like it,” the rapper revealed today (September 24) on his personal blog. “I want yall to hear it as soon as possible.”

This decision squashes any rumors that West would be having a SoundScan rematch with 50 Cent, whose fourth LP, Before I Self-Destruct, was slated to be released a week before 808s & Heartbreak on December 9th.

Last year 50’s album Curtis dropped on the same day as Kanye’s Graduation and 50 vowed to SOHH that he would retire if ‘Ye outsold him in first week sales. Kanye wound up winning the battle, selling a whopping 957,000 units to 50 Cent’s 691,000. Ye’s first single off the new project, “Love Lockdown,” currently holds the number 1 spot on iTunes’ top songs list.

In related news, West and fellow Chicago rapper Rhymefest are reportedly in talks with television executive Dough Herzog to bring a black puppet show titled “Alligator Boots” to Comedy Central.

DAVID BLAINE'S LATEST STUNT IN NYC, HANGING UPSIDE-DOWN

NEW YORK—What's David Blaine up to? Oh, just hanging around. The magician-daredevil proclaimed, "I'm doin' all right," after starting his latest endurance challenge Monday—60 hours hanging upside-down, without a net, above Wollman Rink in Manhattan's Central Park.
Blaine—sounding nasal from sinus pressure—kept smiling while describing the "enormous push of blood" that made it feel like his head was "about to explode."

As a child, he was intrigued when Harry Houdini dangled from a crane by his ankles while escaping a straitjacket.

Said Blaine: "The legs go pin and needle very fast." Stretches—kind of an upside-down sit-up—seem to help.

Blaine, 35, is scheduled to exit from his perch at the climax of a live, two-hour ABC special, "David Blaine: Dive of Death," on Wednesday.

METALLICA & RUN-D.M.C. NOMINEES FOR ROCK HALL.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) -- Run-D.M.C. could "Walk This Way" into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The 1980s rap act, along with Metallica and the Stooges, are among the nine nominees for next year's hall of fame class, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced Monday.

The other nominees are guitarist Jeff Beck, singer Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, War, Bobby Womack, and disco and R&B group Chic, the only nominee back from last year's ballot.

The five leading vote-getters will be announced in January and inducted April 4, 2009, in Cleveland.

The ceremony typically has been held in New York but is returning to Cleveland after more than a decade-long absence. Tickets will be made available to the public for the first time.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five opened the door for rap at the Rock Hall as the first hip-hop act to be inducted in 2007. Now, Run-D.M.C., nominated in the first year of its eligibility, has the chance to follow on the strength of rock and rap blends such as the 1986 cover of Aerosmith's "Walk This Way" and classics like "It's Tricky" and "My Adidas."

Metallica jumped on the heavy metal wave of the '80s and 25 years later is still selling out arenas. This month the group released "Death Magnetic," which marks a return to its early speed metal days.

The Stooges, recently given props in the film "Juno," get another shot after last appearing on the ballot two years ago.

Left off the ballot were Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bon Jovi. Both had been eligible for the first time. To be nominated an act must have released its first single or album 25 years prio

IT'S JUST A PLANT.... LIGHT IT UP !!!

SWAGGER LIKE PUFF.

$700 BILLION BAILOUT

In what is being described as part of the biggest bailout package in the U.S. since the Great Depression, the White House is asking Congress to allow the government to takeover US$700 billion in bad debts.

If Congress approves the plan, a draft of which was obtained by The Associated Press early Saturday, it would give Washington broad power to buy bad mortgages of any American financial institution in the next two years.

The plan does not specify what the government would get in return for the bailout.

The Bush Administration also wants to raise the legal limit on the national debt from $10.6 trillion to $11.3 trillion to allow for the bailout.

"We're going to work with Congress to get a bill done quickly," U.S. President George Bush said at the White House.

I guarantee this will be 50’s favorite album of mine.

by sohh.com
Hip-Hop superstar Kanye West has finally come forward to reveal details about his highly anticipated upcoming album, 808s & Heartbreak.

With his new R&B tinged single “Love Lockdown” climbing up the charts and reaching No. 3 on iTunes’ Top Songs countdown, Ye took the time to write in his renowned blog showing his appreciation to fans.

“HEY THANX EVERYONE,” the headline reads. “PRETTY DOPE FOR THE FIRST DAY!!!”

In addition to embracing his fan base for their purchases of the track, Ye also wrote about his work sessions schedule and officially confirmed his fourth album’s title.

“I just woke up from a quick studio nap…I’ve been workin’ on 808s & Heartbreak about 16 hrs a day and Superman passed out for a little bit,” he explained. “I’m in hawaii but I’m still on NY time so I wake up mad early, do some business, blog, jog for an hour, play ball, eat and then hit the stu by noon.”

Prior to landing in Hawaii, Ye was involved in an altercation with paparazzi at California’s LAX airport last week (September 11) before being arrested and later released on $20,000 bail. While across the waters, the multi-platinum selling rapper hinted at an upcoming video for his new single.

“While approving the final cut for the ‘Love Lockdown’ vid, I marvel at the fact that it was written less than 3 weeks ago,” he wrote. “I’m very excited about the everything…”

After receiving a slight mocking by former SoundScan competitor 50 Cent of his new song, Ye had this to say, “I guarantee this will be 50’s favorite album of mine. This will be gangster’s album of the year.”

As of now, there is no official release date for 808s & Heartbreak

by sohh.com
In this week’s Sales Wrap LL Cool J delivers his fifth straight Top Ten album, Gym Class Heroes start up by landing the No. 14 spot and Kardinal Offishall makes it into Top 40 despite sales in the teens.

Continuing to show he’s here for the long haul, Young Jeezy stays a top contender in album sales this week as The Recession pushes out an easy 89,940 units. According to the Nielsen Soundscan, Jeezy moved one slot down to No. 2 on this week’s Billboard 200. Going in to his second week on the charts, his new album features a star-studded line-up including Kanye West, Jay-Z and Nas. As of today, the disc has sold a total 350,510 albums.

The West Coast is still alive in Top 10 as The Game slide four spots to No. 7 with his L.A.X. selling 49,240 copies this week. Coming off of the recent success defeating Bow Wow in his much-publicized Madden '09 match-up, Game offers hip-hop fans a steady line-up of varied artists including DMX, Ne-Yo, Common, Ludacris, Keyshia Cole, Bilal and others. His third and final album has sold a total 377,100 copies after just three weeks in stores.

Moving up two spots on this week’s charts is multi-platinum selling rapper Lil’ Wayne who landed the No. 8 spot. Tha Carter III sold an impressive 47,350 units over the past seven days with the help of his current hit single “Mrs. Officer” featuring Bobby Valentino. After recently winning the "Best Hip-Hop Video" for “Lollipop” at this year’s VMAs, Weezy’s latest effort has moved 2,410,000 copies in just 14 weeks.

The most notable release of the week came from Hip-Hop’s “G.O.A.T” LL Cool J as he made his long-awaited return. LL’s Exit 13 debuted at No. 9 this week. Following-up his certified gold 2006 release, Todd Smith, LL Cool J’s final Def Jam release sold 43,646 copies in its opening week. The disc features guest appearances from 50 Cent, Lil’ Mo, Wyclef Jean plus the club smash “Baby” featuring The Dream.

Grammy-nominated singer Eric Benet also debuted this week with his latest release Love & Life reaching the No. 11 spot on the charts with 40,135 units sold. His new single “You’re The Only One” is reportedly making its way up charts and is his most recent song to hit Top 20 in two years.

R&B vixen Rihanna moved up one spot to No. 12 as her re-released Good Girl Gone Bad sold 34,880 albums this week. The newly updated version features three additional tracks on top of her smash hits including the Grammy award-winning single “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z and her latest gem “Take A Bow.” Her third Def Jam release has sold a remarkable 1,780,360 albums.

Led by lead singer, Travis McCoy, Gym Class Heroes made their long-awaited debut on the charts this week as their new album The Quilt landed at No. 14 with 32,196 copies pushed out of stores. With production by Cool & Dre, the group’s latest effort also features guest appearances by Estelle, Busta Rhymes and The Dream.

British soul singer Leona Lewis, who recently reached platinum, continues to sell records as her debut album Spirit moved a solid 21,520 copies this week landing her at No. 22. After 23 weeks on the charts, Lewis has sold a total of 1,085,880 units.

Despite the smash hit “Dangerous” featuring hook slayer Akon, Kardinal Offishall’s new project Not 4 Sale made little buzz as it debuted at No. 40 this week selling 11,870 copies. Kardinal’s fourth studio release features mega hitmakers T-Pain, Sean Paul, Rihanna, Glenn Lewis, The Clipse and many others.

Former NWA rap slayer Ice Cube has dropped to No. 41 as his latest release Raw Footage sold 11,770 albums this week. His eighth solo release features appearances by fellow Californian rappers WC, The Game, as well as hip-hop lyrical greats Nas and Scarface. After four weeks on the charts, Cube has seen 130,560 copies sold.

Chris Brown makes his return to the charts this week moving up seven spots to No. 46 as his Exclusive sold 10,130 copies this week. Showing he can hang with the superstars, his sophomore album features special guests T-Pain, Lil’ Wayne, Big Boi and the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am. After 45 weeks on the charts, Chris Breezy has sold a grand total of 1,788,230 copies.

You see Kanye (in a gray hooded sweatshirt) and his bodyguard/road manager (in the red) grabbing the camera away from the photog. It appears the bodyguard, Don Crowley, gets the camera and Kanye gets the lighting component. Crowley smashes the camera to the ground and Kanye does the same with the light.
Kanye and his bodyguard were arrested for vandalism. They're both being held on $20,000 bail.

PRODUCERS OF THE WEEK.

Ryan Leslie.

BIO.

After shadowing and working with some of the greatest living legends of popular music, I have decided to finally come out from behind the boards to launch a worldwide stadium tour campaign.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
* As you may or may not know, I've been signed as an artist with Universal/Motown since 2003. I write and produce all of my songs and have made a living selling them to other artists including New Edition, Britney Spears and many others.
* Every year, I'd get the news that my album was coming out and in 2005, Universal even pressed it up and then decided it was best not to release it.
* After a while, I became tired of waiting and leaked a few songs like "Just Right", "The Way That You Move, Girl", and "Used 2 Be (feat. Fabolous)" on-line. Many of you responded and I began doing little club tours in Europe (starting in Germany).
* After 5 years of waiting, my debut album will finally be released!
Right here on youtube, I will be sharing every step of my journey to put together the most phenomenal music and stage show I can imagine.

KANYE WEST TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM SOON?

Awwwww Sh*t! The internet seems to be in a complete tizzy over talk of a new Kanye West album.
Just weeks after word broke that Kanye -not- Timbaland was going to be executive producing Jay-Z's newest album, now I'm hearing whispers of a new Kanye West album thats supposed to be coming out in December. Some DJ over in Europe has everyone all caught up.

The first single from the album is said to be a song called "Love Lockdown" and is expected to be released soon. Although other people are saying that a single wont be available for weeks.

Personally I am not even going to allow myself to get amp'd up until someone from the Kanye Camp, Don C, Wade, somebody confirms this ish.
