DAVID BLAINE'S LATEST STUNT IN NYC, HANGING UPSIDE-DOWN

NEW YORK—What's David Blaine up to? Oh, just hanging around. The magician-daredevil proclaimed, "I'm doin' all right," after starting his latest endurance challenge Monday—60 hours hanging upside-down, without a net, above Wollman Rink in Manhattan's Central Park.
Blaine—sounding nasal from sinus pressure—kept smiling while describing the "enormous push of blood" that made it feel like his head was "about to explode."
As a child, he was intrigued when Harry Houdini dangled from a crane by his ankles while escaping a straitjacket.
Said Blaine: "The legs go pin and needle very fast." Stretches—kind of an upside-down sit-up—seem to help.
Blaine, 35, is scheduled to exit from his perch at the climax of a live, two-hour ABC special, "David Blaine: Dive of Death," on Wednesday.

METALLICA & RUN-D.M.C. NOMINEES FOR ROCK HALL.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) -- Run-D.M.C. could "Walk This Way" into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The 1980s rap act, along with Metallica and the Stooges, are among the nine nominees for next year's hall of fame class, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced Monday.
The other nominees are guitarist Jeff Beck, singer Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, War, Bobby Womack, and disco and R&B group Chic, the only nominee back from last year's ballot.
The five leading vote-getters will be announced in January and inducted April 4, 2009, in Cleveland.
The ceremony typically has been held in New York but is returning to Cleveland after more than a decade-long absence. Tickets will be made available to the public for the first time.
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five opened the door for rap at the Rock Hall as the first hip-hop act to be inducted in 2007. Now, Run-D.M.C., nominated in the first year of its eligibility, has the chance to follow on the strength of rock and rap blends such as the 1986 cover of Aerosmith's "Walk This Way" and classics like "It's Tricky" and "My Adidas."
Metallica jumped on the heavy metal wave of the '80s and 25 years later is still selling out arenas. This month the group released "Death Magnetic," which marks a return to its early speed metal days.
The Stooges, recently given props in the film "Juno," get another shot after last appearing on the ballot two years ago.
Left off the ballot were Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bon Jovi. Both had been eligible for the first time. To be nominated an act must have released its first single or album 25 years prio

KANYE WEST TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM SOON?

Awwwww Sh*t! The internet seems to be in a complete tizzy over talk of a new Kanye West album.
Just weeks after word broke that Kanye -not- Timbaland was going to be executive producing Jay-Z's newest album, now I'm hearing whispers of a new Kanye West album thats supposed to be coming out in December. Some DJ over in Europe has everyone all caught up.
The first single from the album is said to be a song called "Love Lockdown" and is expected to be released soon. Although other people are saying that a single wont be available for weeks.
Personally I am not even going to allow myself to get amp'd up until someone from the Kanye Camp, Don C, Wade, somebody confirms this ish.

HEAVYWEIGHTS

It’s been some year for Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter. In the past 12 months, the Brooklyn, N.Y.-born hip-hop demigod released a platinum album, signed a 10-year, $150 million deal with concert promoter Live Nation and tied the knot with longtime girlfriend BeyoncĂ© Knowles. Quite a record. But only good enough for a silver medal. While Jay-Z topped Forbes.com’s inaugural Hip-Hop Cash Kings list of the top-earning people in the business last year, in 2008 he cedes the throne to Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who raked in $150 million over the past 12 months–almost twice what Jay-Z made.
For the second year in a row, Sean “Diddy” Combs finished third on our list. The ageless Dapper Don of rap banked a cool $35 million from his revenue streams, including his clothing line Sean John, record label Bad Boy, premium vodka Ciroc and two reality-TV shows. Kanye West clocks in at No. 4 with $30 million. The pink-polo-sporting rapper and producer released his third solo album, Graduation, last September. After handily outselling 50 Cent’s Curtis in a head-to-head opening-week matchup, West’s album went multiplatinum and won four Grammys.Andre “Dr. Dre” Young banked $15 million even though he hasn’t had a hit in years–he still gets rich on royalties from two decades of hits. Tupac himself pulled in a handsome sum this year–about $15 million–even though he’s been dead for over 10 years. Tupac is probably having himself a last laugh from beyond the grave, knowing that his onetime friend Suge Knight isn’t cashing in on the bonanza.
Kudos to these brothas for making that paper, but geeze, Tupac made 15 Million this year?

RICK ROSS IS SUED FOR $4 MILL. "POLICE BRUTALITY .... LOL"

BY SOHH.COM
Matters have begun to heat up between Miami rapper Rick Ross and DJ Vlad as the West Coast DJ has filed a $4 million assault and battery lawsuit stemming from an altercation that happened during the Ozone Awards in Houston last week.
Filed today in New York, the suit claims Vlad was attacked by the Def Jam artist’s entourage last Sunday (August 10) after he asked questions in regards to the rapper’s previous corrections officer history for a piece on his website VLADTV.com.
As previously reported by SOHH’s Ya Heard blog, the altercation was, in deed, serious as the suit claims Vlad’s injuries “include 7 stitches below the eye, 3 fractures to the face, a corneal abrasion and possible permanent nerve damage.” Enduring pain to the head, body and limbs, Vlad says that he“continues to suffer great physical pain, mental anguish and bodily injuries.”
An official complaint has been issued by the deejay outlining the details of their interaction including a pre-assault text message from reading “N*ggas will learn…trillaaa” plus more direct threats aimed at him.
Upon realizing who was text messaging him, Vlad had continued reading the lines which said “I’ve been hearing things about me on your website. We gonna make a story. We going to see each other. We going to talk. Where are you?”
Finally meeting up at the event, Ross insisted “We got beef” as his associates began attacking Vlad before leaving the scene as one attacker said “Yeah, motherf*cker, that’s what you get.”
The lawsuit seeks $2 million in compensatory damages and another $2 million for punitive damages.
This latest occurrence marks the most recent controversy Ross has found himself in as a woman has asked for a court-ordered paternity test to prove he’s the father of her 2 year-old son in order to receive child support.
Pictures: Dead Bigfoot found and stored in a freezer

It may look like a discarded fancy dress Chewbacca costume in a compost heap, but two hunters are claiming that this is the dead body of the legendary Bigfoot.
Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, who run Bigfoot expeditions, have told how they found Sasquatch two weeks ago in the woods of north Georgia, storing it since then in a freezer.
Pics have been posted on searchingforbigfoot.com but a press conference where further DNA and photographic proof will be presented from the pair and "the real Bigfoot Hunter" Tom Biscardi has been promised.
Whitton and Dyer maintain that the monstrous corpse nestling among their frozen peas and fish fingers is a "part human and part ape" male, weighing over 230kg with reddish hair.
According to reports, it has 41cm long flat feet feet, each with five toes and the hands have five fingers. The teeth are described as being more "human-like than ape like".
However, the pair are refusing to pinpoint exactly where they made their beastly discovery to protect other Bigfoots, which they claim to have spotted close to the body.
(Pic:screengab from www.searchingforbigfoot.com)
Biscardi denied that the claims are part of an elaborate hoax.
He said: "We trekked for a day a half ... what kind of lunatic would be out here in a monkey suit? I saw the thing, I touched it."

Music industry to tax downloaders

Internet users could face an annual charge of up to £30 to download music, under plans to be unveiled today that aim to tackle illegal file-sharing.
Ministers are backing proposals that would enable millions of broadband users to pay an annual levy which would allow them to copy as much – previously illegal – music from the internet as they wanted. The money raised would be channelled back to the rights-holders, with artists responsible for the most popular songs receiving a bigger slice of the cash

DIDDY’S DENIES CASSIE RUMORS, “THERE IS NO ENGAGEMENT” SAYS REP

Rumors of a possible marriage in the making between Diddy and his Bad Boy signee Cassie have been shaken-off by the rap mogul’s rep.
According to People, a representative for Diddy denied all allegations that the 38 year-old hip-hop icon was eyeing the 21 year-old songstress to be his wife.
“Contrary to tabloid reports, there is no engagement,” the rep told People. “This was a complete fabrication.”
As previously reported by SOHH’s gossip blog, Ya Heard, rumors began to circulate when close friends of Diddy reported him planning a low-key wedding with Cassie. There was no date scheduled but he allegedly told insiders in early June.
In related news, Diddy has teamed with VH1 for a new reality series called “I Want To Work For Diddy” set to debut next month.
The show will focus on 13 applicants competing for the opportunity to work alongside the superstar. Only one contestant will be chosen as they endure emotional, physical, and mental challenges throughout each episode.

Nas Dethrones Lil Wayne Atop Billboard 200

One rapper replaces another atop The Billboard 200 this week, as Nas' untitled Def Jam album dethrones Lil Wayne's Cash Money/Universal set "Tha Carter III." Nas' album sold 187,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, becoming the rapper's fifth No. 1 here.
Nas' prior album, 2006's "Hip-Hop Is Dead," also debuted at No. 1 but sold 354,000 over Christmas week. Meanwhile, after three non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, "Tha Carter III" slips to No. 2 with a 15% sales decrease to 105,000.
The Decca soundtrack to "Mamma Mia!," the film adaptation of the hit theatrical musical based on ABBA's songbook, experiences an 89% sales boost after the movie hit theaters Friday (and earned the highest grossing weekend opening ever for a musical); it climbs 7-3 with 91,000. NAS JOINS PROTEST AGAINST FOX

By: Brandi Hopper
On the track “Sly Fox,” off his newly released album, Nas calls the Fox network out for feeding viewers “toxins.” Now he's joining over 600,000 others who are protesting what they deem as media poison from the news network.
Nas recently joined a campaign waged by grassroots organizations ColorofChange.org and MoveOn.org to deliver well over a half a million signatures to stop what they call racist smearing against African-Americans, including possible democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. They’ll drop the petition off at the Fox’s Manhattan headquarters tomorrow.
On “Sly Fox,” he raps, "Watch what you watchin', Fox keeps feeding us toxins, Stop sleeping, Start thinking" and "I pledge allegiance to the fair and balanced truth/Not the biased truth/Not the liar's truth/But the highest truth."
The protesters charge Fox with broadcasting a “veiled attempt to prey on racism and intolerance and cast the Obamas as ‘outsiders,’” according to a press release.
The group specifically cites an on-screen graphic that referred to Michelle Obama as “Obama’s baby mama;” an incident in which a pundit seemingly confused Barack Obama with “Osama” and joked that they should both be assassinated; and a comment made my an anchor about a picture of Barack and Michelle giving each other a pound, calling it a “terrorist fist jab.” The group also takes issue with Bill O’Reilly’s February comment, calling for a “lynching party” for Michelle, among other incidents.
"When Fox talks about lynching the woman who may soon be our First Lady and then refers to this wife and mother as a 'baby mama,' they are maligning not only the Obamas, but Black women and Black people across this country," said James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org.
"Fox poisons the country with racist propaganda and tries to call it news," Nas said.

RICKY ROSS EXPOSED AGAIN? IS THIS THE BEGINING OF THE END OF HIS RAP CAREER?

Written By: SOHH Streetz
OK. I think It's a wrap for homies rap career. Last week the hip-hop world were all talks about Ricky Ross shaky background. Reports were coming out the woodworks that "The Boss" tales of drug dealings and criminal activities might have been nothing more then a rouse. A picture surfaced showing the Miami rap star in what appeared to be police clothing and Trick Daddy is already accusing Ricky of working as a correctional officer.
Ross went on record denying the rumors, but now even more evidence has emerged.
